If you're going to be a Swing dancer, you gotta be cool! Attitude is key. If you've ever seen Swing dancers out on the dance floor, you may have thought they had bad posture. Well, this isn't the case. They were just being cool. A styling that is unique to the East Coast Swing is a bent midsection. This is in contrast to the straight posture used in Basic Closed Position for the Fox Trot and Waltz. Posture for Swing dancers is like that for tennis players. By keeping the knees and midsection slightly bent, a springier step is achieved and quick movements are more easily executed.
